Frequently asked questions
What do your wedding Photography packages include?
My standard package that is the best fit for most wedding days includes full day coverage from the end of getting ready through to your grand exit, or when the party concludes if there is no grand exit. I deliver all the best images from your wedding day in an online gallery with print rights & access to my preferred print lab. Typically this is between 100-120/hr
Why do you require a second photographer?
Oftentimes photographers will have a 2nd shooter optional for weddings, or based on the guest count. Because my style of photography requires more extensive lighting than others, having my 2nd photographer there helps to assure I am 100% present to photograph the most important moments - oftentimes I will be photographing your couples portraits while they will be setting up lighting for the reception so we are ready to go for the next important event. In addition, having a 2nd photographer helps greatly in getting both amazing photos of y’all and lots of candid moments of your friends and family throughout the whole day!
We want engagement photos - how do we pick a location?
Engagement photos are an awesome way to get more casual non-wedding photos of the two of you to hang in your house or share online! If you are unsure of where you want your engagements shot, I can suggest a location based on any inspiration photos you have that would give that same feel, or doing them based around an activity y’all like to do together creates a great unique shoot, too! If you want some inspiration, I compiled some of my favorite spots at the link here!
Can i have the raw files?
The long and short of this is no - the RAW files are not a good representation of the final product, as they are not a fully processed and complete product. Additionally, the vast majority of clients - unless they are also photographers - don’t have the necessary software to process those file types.
How do you describe your photography style?
My photography is bold, vibrant, and out of the box. I shoot 90% of a wedding day in a photojournalistic, fly-on-the-wall style, with some relaxed posing sprinkled throughout getting ready & couples portraits. My goal is to create the most natural and true to you photos that reflect your unique relationship in the least pinterest-ey way possible.
How far do you travel for weddings? Where is included without a fee?
I absolutely love traveling, and am more than happy to do so for your wedding! My standard package includes travel within 40mi of the central Austin area, and outside of that for anything within 2 hours of drive time I charge mileage based on the standard US mileage rates. If you are getting married somewhere with significant travel time by car, an additional travel fee to cover a hotel for the evening would be included(the last thing we need is an exhausted photographer on the roads at 2am!). For travel outside of Texas, I calculate the lowest travel rate possible based on travel time, hotel, food expenses, etc.
What are the steps to get you booked for our date?
To get your date secured, I require a 25% deposit & a signed contract. How you pay the remainder of your balance is totally up to you between then and your wedding day! I am happy to send smaller invoices, or I can send you a link to your full balance that you can jump on and make payments whenever works best for you.
What happens if you get sick or in an accident on our wedding day?
I have been in this business for 7 years, and in the Austin area my entire life. Because of this, I have a huge network of amazing photographers to reach out to if the unforeseen happens and I am unavailable, someone will always be available to step in and help!
How many weddings have you photographed?
As much as I would love to have a spreadsheet with all of these statistics on it, I’ve shot so many weddings I have truly lost count. As a photographer, after a couple of years in business the number gets so high you lose track of it. And given I have been photographing weddings full time for 5 years, with 2 more years part time before that, I can imagine the number is huge.
What does print release mean, and is that different than copyright?
Print release is all couples need to be able to print, share, and archive their photos. The way legal copyright ownership works in photography is that the person who took the photo owns the copyright, which even extends to if a monkey took the photo, for example. In relevant terms for clients, giving copyright wouldn’t be any different in how you would realistically use your photos. A print release allows you full rights to download, share, & print your images. The only limitation is that you can’t sell the images as a photo you took, or otherwise monetarily gain off of them which copyright ownership allows.
Have you photographed at our venue before?
There is a high likelihood that the answer to this question is yes, but with Austin becoming more and more of a wedding destination I feel like there are new venues every week! If I haven’t shot at your venue, I wouldn’t worry about it - I’ve shot in countless different locations & am great at adapting to new places. I always arrive early to any wedding day to get set up and scout locations, with new to me venues I prioritize arriving even earlier so I can get a full sense of the space and a game plan set!
Are all of your photos edited?
Yes! Any photos I deliver will be edited in the same style you see on my website. Special attention is also paid to couples portraits - if there are any stray hairs, pimples, or non-permanent features of you & your partner I retouch those.
